The new numbers…
Wow, this is crazy! We have been absolutely inundated with e-mails today about possible new DC Marketing numbers! Rest assured we are following up on all the e-mails you guys have been sending us (50+ today but please keep them coming!) and will report back with an updated number list by tomorrow afternoon (when we go on Triple J).

i live in the northern suberbs of adelaide and me and my friend have recieved a call from the (02)81029565 i did call the number back by from my work phone so i am quite happy to say that the charges were not taken on my behalf.
i am quite annoyed that they allow something like this to continue and hope that this scam does come to end.

I have a brand new black berry and I am using it for internet only, and I keep getting cslls from 02 84042298, 03 9449 8074, 02 8404 2235.
I do not even know the number for my blackberry!!!

0381029573 and 0284042216 mobile gave 1 ring only so lucky for me I could not answer and as have pre paid and only had $4
in my account feel I was lucky

hi,had a call from 0284042289,returned call and heard a recorded message by EASY FRIENDS(a sex /dating service for local girls and guys).i told my girlfriend,which could have created disaster in our relationship,but luckily by chance we watched ACA,resolving our issues. Hence this e-mail 2u.

My company is a telephony information service provider in Perth. About 8-10 weeks ago we were approached with an offer to make lots of money. It was from DC Marketing. You see, they don’t have their own equipment. They rely on greedy ISP’s to make and receive their “marketing” calls. We said NO. We felt that it was immoral. They wanted us (or someone in Western Australia) so that they can use new unknown scam numbers. If you can’t stop DC Marketing, find out who their ISP is and stop them.

hi, have recieved 2 calls from 0284042216. tues 20th june at 6:35pm and today at 4:55pm. didn’t answer but wondered if it was one of my daughters friends, then saw aca so my daughter and i cheaked out her friends numbers and it didn’t match. pleased i didn’t answer and it has shown my 13yr old how easy it could be to be scamed.

This has happenend to me twice. I wondered who was ringing me from Sydney. I have very few friends there. Glad I didn’t ring back. They only let the phone ring once or twice. The two numbers concerned are:

Thanks to your story on ACA last night I have saved myself valuable time and needless frustration. Just this morning I received a missed call from 02-8-404 2289 (rang once and then stopped).
Remembering last nights story I immediately looked at the number and logged on to 4wisemonkeys.com and discovered I was yet another victim of this pointless inconvenience. I just hope my daughter does not receive a similar call, as she won’t be able to resist the opportunity to use her phone, wich is for emergency purposes only…she will think one of her family have called her and will try to contact them.

Same number that “Shane” reported above as being ‘Easy Friends’ sex service. I called back, the number immediately picked up and said “Hello, you are CONNECTED to the (?? easy call ??) Winners Line!”
This is the 4th time I have had these missed calls.

Thank God I got the email about this scam.
I got a phone call from 02 8404 2289 Friday afternoon, noticing it only rang once thought it strange, and the only reason I didn’t call it back at the time is I didn’t figure I should pay for an eastern states call if someone was after me they could leave a message or call back.
Lucky, I would have been paying more than just a eastern states call.
God Knows I can’t afford it either.

Hmmm, I know some of the guys who founded Ezifriends dating site. I really hope they’re not doing this scam crap too. I’ve just emailed them to see if it is them. As mentionned previously on this site I regard this “missed call marketing” as a clear attempt to deceive the receiver. It’s not honest.
I’ve also posted the 4WM links on the DC marketing scam to many of my friends and a large Australia-wide mailing list. No-one has come back saying they support these scammers.

hey, ive had this happen to me as well - twice. first time was back on may 14th at 6:10pm. the 2nd time was just 2 days ago just before 11am, while i was at work.
the numbers coming up struck me as strange too by the 2nd call.

Hey chris, it isn’t ezifriends. The name is ezyfriends - with a y. Google it, various domains apparently owned by DC marketing people. You can also find it on ASIC.

Hey. I’ve had a few missed calls from 0381029563 but didn’t think anything of it, too lazy to call back! My mum warned me about this scam but I didn’t think I’d get a call. I had my phone right near me and it rang really short so I was like, who would prank me? SO I too, decided to Google the number and found this! Lucky I did. But it’s awful that hundreds of people are out there and they don’t know about this. What if it happens to some old person with not much money. I know I’d hate it if something like this happened to my Gran. HOw disgusting that nothing can be done about it. Why can’t we do something?!?!?!

I just got a call from 0381029563. I had a good old laugh thinking that i have been safe for this long however it seems that they’ve finally found me!
4WM, I commend you for the stance that you have taken on this - I work in a sales department where we are constantly getting calls from numbers we don’t know, however without your site a few of the people that I work with would have fallen victim to this scam but after showing them your website they have avoided the calls. I live in Perth, WA. I just received a missed call from 0381029563 at about 11:30am 10 July 06. I was about to call them back but I remembered receiving an email a few weeks back about a mobile phone scam. At the time I thought it was just another stupid email, but I googled the number that called me, and my search results gave me this site. I see above their are others who have received missed calls from the same number, so it is obviously a scam!!I have received missed calls before from similar numbers, but they are no longer stored in my phone so I am unable to list them here. If i get any more, I will be sure to post them.
