DC Marketing: Update
A lot has been happening in the past 48hours - so much that even the Wise Monkeys are having a hard time keeping up with all the latest developments. But as we are your number one resource for DC Marketing information, we continue to post what we know and the developments as they happen…and a lot has been happening.
As the majority of you are aware, the ACCC are not very interested aswell as other goverment agencies. In fact many of you are refered to the up and coming goverment "Do Not Call" list. Did you know
- The "Do Not Call" list does not involve mobile phones
- A company can choose not to register with the list
- …In other words, it's usless is this type of situation
Where does that leave us? Some may feel like we have no were else to turn to. Not true, we are currently looking into other ways of defence against this type of "service" - more on this at a later date, but we but we are looking into other avenues.
Keep the word of mouth going, the more people that are aware of things the better for everyone!

If there Is ONE thing the donot call list should involve its mobile numbers.
The entire consept of a dont not call list is moronic companies shouldent be allowed to make make the calls by law in the first place.
I dread the day our phones become as abused as email.
With communications authoritys sitting on their backsides and the widspead use of VoIP that day could be soon.

I was just pranked by 03 85580556 today (18th May) at approx. 8:10pm. This is either the 2nd or 3rd time its happened, this first time was earlier this year. I can’t remember exactly when I was contacted by DC Marketing those previous time(s), but I remember calling the number back thinking it was a relative from Melbourne, and hanging up in disgust a few seconds after the recorded message began.
I have a friend who works in market research who has explained to me a bit about the Spam Act. I looked into it a bit further at this section of the Australian Communications and Media Authority’s (ACMA) website:
http://www.acma.gov.au/ACMAINTER.65654:STANDARD:1984452516:pc=PC_2008
Basically, I think the Spam Act stipulates that all marketing systems should have a clear and precise unsubscribe or black list function. I don’t know if this only refers to email spam or also mobile phone spam. I have not bothered listening to the whole recorded message as I don’t want to waste my money so I don’t know if DC Marketing provide this option. If they don’t, it’s something else illegal that they could be doing.
The website also has an electronic form where you can lodge a complaint. Sorry if you are already aware of this - hope I’ve helped!

I work in the Telco industry and let me tell you this-
My virgin mobile got a call from one of your listed scam numbers and it was actually a VIRGIN CUSTONER SERVICE REP that put me onto this website.
So wether DC have agreements with the telcos or not, most in the industry loathe the existence of such setrvices.
By the way, my numbers relatively new and I havent signed up to any kind of promo list etc etc and Im still getting them. SCAM!
