Media: Triple J Interview
We have received word today that skelm and I will be interviewed by Triple J in the upcoming days. At the current time we are not 100% sure when the interview will air, though we are asuming it will air during their show "Hack" 5:30pm weeknights.
Earleir in the week, hack hosted a segment in regards to this scam which you can download from their website, due to the huge responce they received they have asked up to speak up on air about the situation - an offer we can not refuse!

yea i sent this in as a link on the guest book when i heard they were going to run the piece, it was the same day that above spam mail came, well a similar one, that one claimed each call was $50 and a melbourne shockjock was caught and something about a sexline.
post when your going to be on and i’ll have to tune in, the previous segment was a touch underwhelming in depth compared to this site.

Dear 4WM,
we feel again obliged to reply to this. As Mr Munn will probably be able to confirm, the above business practiques are in NO connection with the DC Marketing promotion.
As already repeatedly stated by us in this blog, we are not the only company utilising the missed call marketing technique (and we were to our knowledge also not the first). PLease therefore distinguish between our promotion and others, as it is quite unfair to make DC MArketing responsible for promotions we do NOt have anything to do with. THe above described scheme sounds illegal, and we are confident that Australian authorities will be able to stop these in a metter of a few days.
Kind regards
DC Marketing

Dear Mr Gruber,
On our website we have never made the claim that you would be charged $50.00 for calling these numbers.
We have always reported that the phone call will only cost a local phone call from a mobile phone and then $2.97 to respond to the 1900 number.
In closing we are not responsable for the above e-mail.

DC Marketing:
To ensure that 4WM distinguish correctly between your promotions and the promotions of other companies, could you inform us of the phone numbers you do use for your promotions? 4WM don’t want to misreport the facts. If you’re so keen to tell people by leaving these numbers on their mobiles at such a cheap rate, surely you’ll want to cut your costs even further by publishing these lists so people can call them without any charge to you?

DC MARKETING:
Please provide me with a fax number or email address where I can forward my mobile number and request that you cease to call me. I have no interest in your services.
If, as you have claimed, you have a large customer base then giving the public the option to opt out of your service should have no impact on your bottom line. I’m more than happy for you to save yourselves the time and expense of calling me.
If you are committed to providing good service to your potential customers then I see no reason why you should not provide an opt out service.
Thank you

I occasionally get missed calls which I reply to and am told the person did not try to contact me. Multiply this by thousands of other phone numbers and Telstra would be on a nice little earner. How many others have experienced this?
