Steve “Crocodile Hunter” Irwin has been killed

http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,20349534-952,00.html

While I was never personally a big fan of the man, it is a shame to lose on of Australia’s biggest “exports”. And his work with all forms of wild-life was hard-pressed to match.
I know a lot of people aren’t suprised that he’s finally been killed by an animal, given his sometimes “reckless” behaviour - but it is still a tragedy.

There’s a few version of how he actually died, some are claiming heart attack, others are stating that the stingray barb penetrated his chest / heart. Makes litter difference in the outcome.

China has a new enemy

in regards to interweb censorship.

We all know the stories floating around the USA congress throwing pointless bills around the place about who controls the internet and what not. And to get to the point…

New Senate Telecom Bill Stays the Course on ‘Net Neutrality’

Essentially, some tool thinks it’s a good idea to legally allow telecommunication companies decide how fast you get content delivered, regardless of the server that is hosting it and your connection, and more so on how much the operator of said website pays them.

Sure it starts off with just preferential treatment of websites, and it grows from there.
If this keeps up, America will most likely over-take China in regards to internet censorship
One day American’s are going to wake up and the only thing they’ll be able to access is government propoganda.

Chefs to be the next wave of criminals in the UK

Don’t believe me?

Some recent developments in the UK will have possession of a knife land you in jail for 6 months or a £5,000 fine.
while this is generally targeted towards “collectable” blades that you’ll most likely find in a specialised store, and things like flick-blades and whatnot, you have to stop and wonder where exactly they will draw the line. I wouldn’t be suprised to hear of people geting busted for cutting up a tomato at the local park or just carrying a pack of new steak knives out of a store.

To quote someone from the jolt.co.uk forums:

The government wants to restrict death to those who take the time to learn it as a skill, and fair play to them, I reckon. Any stupid bastard can kill with a sword or cleaver; it takes real finesse to do it with a bottle opener.

And I have to agree with them. You can kill someone with almost anything.

E3 - What the hell was Sony thinking?

I know we’ve got our avid fans of all systems here. So this is nice and simple, for you Sony fans, did the aftermath of E3 leave you somewhat cheated? I know I would’ve been if I was a fan. Hell, I’m not even a fan of the PS and I felt ripped off. I was expecting more from Sony and I had my standards set low, and they undercut it hard.

Anyhow, more to the point:

I am a terrorist

Source: http://www.motherjones.com/mojoblog/archives/2006/04/23-week/index.html

How to spot a terrorist

I really had no idea how to spot a terrorist until I studied the manuals published by the Phoenix FBI, the state employees of Virginia, and the Texas Department of Public Safety. Now that I have absorbed these manuals, I not only know how to spot a terrorist, but I have discovered that I probably am a terrorist.

The Phoenix FBI manual was published while Clinton was still president. The Joint Terrorism Task Force was formed to “help preserve the American way of life.” Its flyer requested that citizens contact the task force if they saw any of the following:

More DC Marketing, or not?

We all know our mates at DC Marketing are slowly getting through the numbers.
And tonight while watching TV I saw a short item on a mobile phone scam. My initial thought was ‘holy shit DC Marketing has finally attracted the media!’ Sadly the more I asked around people I knew, I believe it to be something to do with $3.00 or so per call for information regarding who you were and what you did in a past life.

Anyhow, we’ll know for certain in the next few days what this new scam is. And if we at 4WM have got enough collective material on DC Marketing - we’ll throw some of it to the media to see if that gets them going :) And on an up-note, it’s good to see so many people still letting us know when they’re being pranked - the trends are really starting to show.
